we have felt this year.
The cigarrette buts have been thrown away.
The school pictures stored in a dark box.
The calendar has been closed.
Looks of love were e.x.c.h.a.n.g.e.d.
A boy's {{b e a u t i f u l}}
words wasted
on the w.r.o.n.g girl.
Scribbled thoughts forgotten
in a notebook on a shelf.
Shreds of torn love letters
thrown into the w i n d.
Ink filled pens have been left
in messy drawers.
Old clothes have been given a/w/a/y.
And as they grow too conservative
and outdated,
Old thoughts are brought in to be
exchanged like ill-fitting jeans.
Bottles of wine have been b:r:o:k:e:n.
Hair has been cut.
Teeth have been straightened.
Pounds have been l o s t.
Drunken conversations forgotten.
Memories, once sharp, are now faded.
And as quickly as new life is given,
It seems to be [[ t a k e n away ]].
Why do we look towards each year with such longing?
It seems that life is a fool's game
We are too immature to command a young body,
And later, too weak to fulfill our maturity.
And still we wait in utter anticipation,
Filling each year with resolutions to be fulfilled.
What we want is more.
More b.r.o.k.e.n bottles.
More looks of love.
More wasted words.
More drunken conversations.
More uncontrolable fits of laughter.
More cigarrette buts.
More torn love letters.
More *p*i*c*t*u*r*e*s* to keep in boxes.
More scribbles and thoughts to be forgotten
